The Susquehanna Valley High School Envirothon is held annually, usually in early May. Teams (consisting of three to five high school members) from Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Union and Snyder Counties participate. Each school can send up to four teams to the event.
The 2011 Susquehanna Valley High School Envirothon was held on May 3, at the Shikellamy State Park Overlook near Northumberland, PA. Forty-two teams involving roughly 200 students from various schools participated. Teams challenged their environmental skills with topics ranging from forestry, wildlife, aquatics, soils and an environmental-based current event. A team from Selinsgrove Area High School won the Snyder County award.
