Treasurer

Overview

The office of Treasurer was created under Article 9, Section 4 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. “The County Code” determines the requirements and functions of the office, which was established by Act of August 9, 1955.

The county treasurer is elected for a term of four years. The treasurer and staff are responsible for recording and depositing all monies received by the county and releasing and disbursing all expenditures on the treasury. Monies received consist of payments of county taxes, county fees, as well as State and Federal grants. The treasurer is also responsible for investing County funds in short or intermediate term investments until such funds are needed for disbursement.

Apply for a Fishing License

Fishing License Overview

The Snyder County Treasurer is an official agent for Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission to issue fishing licenses.

A person 16 years of age or older is required to have a license to fish in Pennsylvania.
Licenses are Valid from January 1st – December 31st of each year
While fishing, license must be signed in ink and must be displayed on an outer garment. Anglers must be prepared to furnish positive proof of identification.
A trout stamp is also required to fish for trout or salmon.
Senior resident and lifetime licenses are available to those persons at anytime during the license year in which they will be 65 by the end of the license year.
Lifetime licenses are valid for the life of the applicant and, unless lost, do not need renewal each year.
Eligible active duty military personnel can legally fish without a license under the limited circumstances outlined in the law.

Apply for a Hunting/Furtaker License

Hunting & Furtaking License Overview

The Snyder County Treasurer is an official agent for Pennsylvania Game Commission to issue hunting licenses and assist with questions relating to hunting licenses and current hunting laws.

All persons must possess a valid hunting or furtaker license legally issued to them to hunt or trap in PA.
Licenses are valid from July 1st – June 30th of each year.
A person becomes eligible to hunt or trap in Pennsylvania when they reach their 12th birthday.
Applicants may purchase a regular junior license or a combination license, which includes archery, furtaker and muzzleloader.
A person must pass a safety course or have had a prior hunting license legally issued to them to purchase a license.
A person becomes eligible to purchase a senior, senior lifetime or senior lifetime combination license anytime during the license year when they will reach age 65 by the end of the license year. Lifetime licenses are issued by the Game Commission the first year. All license holders need to have a new back tag reissued each year.

Apply for a Dog License

Dog License Overview

The Snyder County Treasurer is an Agent for Department of Agriculture to issue dog licenses.

All dogs three months or older living in the Commonwealth must be licensed in the county where they are normally kept.
Senior Citizen and Persons with Disabilities can purchase dog licenses at reduced rates by providing proof of age or disability to the County Treasurer.
Rabies Vaccinations are required for all dogs (and house cats) over three months of age. Vaccines must be administered or supervised by a licensed veterinarian. (Licensed kennel owners certified by Dept. of Agriculture may vaccinate animals they own.)

Annual Renewal License

Annual licenses run the calendar year expiring on December 31st for the designated license year.

You can apply for an annual renewal license the following ways:
- Online
- Via mail by completing and sending in the Annual Renewal Dog License Form to our office.
  - When applying by mail, only the tag will be returned in mail. (Attachments will not be sent through the mail.)
- In-person at our office.

Lifetime License

Lifetime licenses require that your dog is either tattooed or microchipped as a form of permanent identification.

You can apply for a lifetime license the following ways:
- Via mail by completing and sending in the Lifetime Dog License Form to our office.
  - When applying by mail, only the tag will be returned in mail. (Attachments will not be sent through the mail.)
- In-person at our office.

Apply for a Bingo/Small Games of Chance License

Small Games of Change License Overview

The Treasurer’s Office is the licensing authority for Small Games of Chance and Bingo Licenses within Snyder County.

Licensing is limited to non-profit organizations that have been in existence for at least a year for the promotion of charitable or civil purposes.

Bingo License

The Bingo Law stipulates non-profit organizations which have existed and conducted business two years prior to application can place an application with the Treasurer’s Office. Senior citizen groups can apply immediately upon being organized.

For qualified non-profits conducting no more than three continuous days per year: $15
For recognized senior citizens’ groups who conduct bingo for their members only: $50
