 General Information

About the Pennsylvania State Police...

  • Serves as primary police agency for all 15 townships in Snyder County
  • Headed by the Commissioner, Colonel paul J. Evanko
  • Staffed by a five member enlisted supervisory staff, a fifteen member uniformed patrol unit, a three member enlisted criminal investigation unit, a three person civilian police communications unit, and a part time clerk/typist.
  • Consists of a complement of 5300 sworn and civilian personnel
  • Founded on May 2, 1905, the PSP became the first uniformed police of its kind in the nation
  • Accredited on 07/31/93 by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), it is currently the largest internationally accredited law enforcement agency in the world
