Overview

The Office of Public Defenders office provides legal representation in criminal matters for those individuals who have criminal charges in Snyder County and qualify for our services.
 

Applying for Representation

Applications must be:
 
  • entirely completed, including all additional paperwork as required in the instructions of the application,
  • completed by the person requesting representation,
  • an original submission by mail or hand-delivery,
  • and turned in no later than 10 days before the next court hearing of the individual.

Application Decision

Decisions on approval or denial of services are rendered in writing and mailed out to individuals. Anyone wishing to appeal to the Chief Public Defender to reconsider their application after denial must comply with any missing portions of their application, and any other requirements stated in the denial letter, and write a letter to the Chief Public Defender asking for reconsideration of their denial.
