Snyder County is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Chief Tax Assessor. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the accurate assessment of properties within the county for tax purposes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property assessment, leadership experience, and a commitment to maintaining fair and equitable tax assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the valuation and assessment of all real property in Snyder County.
- Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding property assessments.
- Supervise and manage assessment staff.
- Develop and implement assessment policies and procedures.
- Provide technical guidance on complex property tax matters.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for property owners and other stakeholders regarding assessment inquiries.

Qualifications:
- Certification in CPE (Certified Pennsylvania Evaluators) is preferred, but not required. If you do not currently have this certification, Snyder County will cover the cost of obtaining it.
- Strong knowledge of property tax laws, assessment practices, and appraisal methods.
- Experience in a supervisory role or leadership capacity is preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
